Democratic Governance and Institutional Development

The Democratic Governance Programme in Lebanon focuses on providing technical support for the institutional development of public institutions, and for formulation and implementation of economic, administrative and financial reform policies and legislations. It also supports policies related to improved governance, inclusive participation and empowerment. The Programme works in partnership with public institutions, Civil Society Organizations and Private sector. In addition, the portfolio focuses on enhancing citizens’ opportunities to participate in the political decision-making processes and thus make institution more democratic, accountable and responsive. The Programme focuses on developing national strategies and plans for anti-corruption, human rights, gender equality and administrative reform.More

Lebanese film maker receiving an award at the Cannes Film Festival
IDAL Improves the Lebanese Film Industry with the Help of UNDP

Nine of the brightest and best Lebanese film makers were given the chance to participate and represent their country in one of the most important international film festivals. These filmmakers successfully showcased their films with the aim for Lebanon to become a filming destination and a regional hub for the film industry. One of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon’s (IDAL) greatest contributions was to the media sector. In fact, for the 2nd consecutive year, IDAL in partnership with the Lebanese Tourism Office in Paris and Fondation Liban Cinema (FLC), continued its support of the Lebanese film industry in Cannes through the sponsoring of the Lebanese Pavilion, the screening of Lebanese movies at the Cannes Film Market and the participation of Lebanese Filmmakers in workshops held during the festival.more 

The media in and on Tripoli: Positivity is needed!

In order to boost positive synergy among Lebanese and Syrian families and to encourage communication and ease tension caused by daily problems and stress, the socio-cultural committee of Saadnayel, supported by the UNDP “Peace Building in Lebanon” project as part of the Mechanisms for Social Stability implemented all over Lebanon, organized a 14-day drawing workshop during June - July 2016 for 60 children aged between 5 and 12 years old.more
